In 2019, according to the American Psychological Association (APA), more than three-quarters of adults co-exist with emotional symptoms of stress.
And what stress look like?
APA states that headaches, changing sleeping patterns and feeling fatigued are one of the main symptoms.
However, due to covid-19, we were made aware, through hitting almost a complete STOP sign, that we are not invincible.

So, what is lifestyle medicine?
Lifestyle Medicine looks at all aspects of a person’s lifestyle: from healthy nutrition, exercise and stress management, to having a healthy relationship with yourself and others.
Considering various chronic diseases and illnesses induced by bad lifestyle choices, lifestyle medicine draws conclusions, on how to better one’s choices, in order to decrease negative setbacks of an unhealthy lifestyle.

There are many reasons as to why a person gets illnesses; however, many hardly ever question how it could be affected by the lifestyle choices themselves take every single day.
There is a grave need, now more than ever, of a way to prevent chronic illnesses, which could, one day, be the reason of a more severe reaction to viruses, such as covid-19.
According to Susan Benigas, executive director of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, this form of medicine has the aim to “identify and eradicate the root cause of disease” (Erblat, A. 2019)

As a globe, we now have to be more aware of not only imperative hygiene procedures, but also our own physical and mental health, more than ever before.
